I think it is important to understand this:
Renaissance men were and are men of art, not science. Mathematics and mechanics were and are tools of art. And they are tools of a narrowly focused mind.
Remove art - and you get Auschwitz, remove tools - and you get Tracy Emin.
Art is a method, a way of understanding the world and your place in it, mathematics is a tool to do that.
A beautiful palace, an imposing cathedral or a comfortable home can't be built without artistic vision. But they cannot also be built without artist's understanding of applied mathematics and mechanics.
Idolising rationalism destroys humanity.
Idolising art destroys the foundation of humanity.
